Hopefully you both have set the ground rule and foundation to any solid relationship. Trust, honesty, communication and understanding. Sprinkle a little love helps too. Mobile Love - I <3 UToday, everyone practically has a mobile phone. If you're feeling blue, drop you loved one a quick phone call or text message to tell them you miss them. Also, its good to check up and see how they are doing, how their day was etc. There's nothing like having a friend on the other line. WebCam You both can find time to set up a chat session where you can talk up a storm. You can check out Skype or Yahoo messenger to host a video chat session where you can actually talk VOIP - voice over IP. This is an excellent option for people on a limited budget. Its not the same as being there, but you can see the facial expressions in real time and capture the moment. Ocean's apart relationships can be scary and anxious. Both people involved should make an effort to make the relationship work out because if someone makes a wrong turn it maybe too late or impossible to acquire back the relationship. They say that "the nearest is the sweetest" so for you guys who are struggling on a long distance relationship don't take for granted a single opportunity to communicate with your love partner. You might just wake up someday and realize he/she has a new arm to cover on.

Due to the great distance apart, most lovers' relationship seem to turn to a stale one because each partner can't be present at one's side especially when there is a problem or just plain need to be with someone you love.

There are some that are successful with these kinds of relationships because the personalities involved are true lovers, patient and creative in expressing themselves even with the great distance. Yes, the internet has made it easier to communicate with your love ones who can interactively talk, smile and see your expressions on the display of your PCs.

@abduldary
"Ocean's apart" = isn't that a song? hehehe..

Long distance relationship (*sigh*), is a very lonely experience. In my case wherein I'm very far away from home, I get by by sending SMSs to my girl. Every now and then we get to "talk" online. Although there are times that we communicate through mobile or landline. I do this just to hear her voice. *sigh* (again) I miss her sooooo much...

And oh, great article by the way.

It's really hard having a long distance relationship. I could tell the agony each one may experience since right now I'm also struggling with one. In minimizing this longing to my partner we agreed to have a set of time when to call, text and use online messenger and webcam. Although there might be another good way than this, at least by this way it lessen our longing to be on each other's side.
